In the early part of 2024, City started legal procedures in the Premier League, and they believe some laws are not fair or equal for all. Now, Manchester City have released a statement regarding this matter after winning the Sponsorship Legal Dispute.
The APT previously made regulations that will prevent teams from violating the Fair Market Value (FMV). However, after winning the recent arbitration, these regulations have received the label of being unlawful.
Manchester City released the latest statement with viral claims
Every competition deserves fair laws which will prevent any specific team from gaining an edge over the other. Moreover, it is for the best in order to keep the competition fair and worth competing for.
Manchester City and their latest statement proves that they have always faced trouble with the rules of the Premier League. The team is already going to face the FFP hearing. The 115 charges against them have the potential to bring them forever. They found issues regarding the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules that they have imposed in the league itself.
Right now, after Manchester City released a statement, it appears that their legal team is working on the issue. They are probably engaging in closed-door meetings with the PL regarding the ongoing issues. In December 2021, APT emerged shortly after Saudi Arabia received the rights of Newcastle United. They want to ‘preserve the competitiveness’.
In their official statement, Manchester City was pretty vocal over their claims.
“The Club has succeeded with its claim: the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules have been found to be unlawful and the Premier League’s decisions on two specific MCFC sponsorship transactions have been set aside”
The Tribunal found APT Rules can violate UK competition law and procedural fairness.
