Liverpool are reportedly looking to sign 24-year-old Angel Gomes in January, and Man Utd legend Roy Keane is already a fan of the 24 y/o.
Gomes got his first senior team call-up last month and has already featured in the matches against Ireland and Finland. Gomes was given the opportunity to start against Finland and his performance has already got pundits linking him to a move to the Premier League.
Roy Keane on Angel Gomes
Former Manchester United player Roy Keane on ITV: “He was impressive and so busy. I’m not sure he made a mistake today”. To which Ian Wright added: “He wanted the ball all the time, was constantly available”.
Angel Gomes had the most touches (126) on the ball against Finland. Followed by Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold (114) who also had a great game.
Angel Gomes currently plays for French club Lille and is a regular starter for the club. Gomes was part of the Manchester United academy before making the decision to move to Lille.
According to Football Insider Liverpool have joined the race for the 24-year-old Angel Gomes, who Roy Keane was highly impressed by.
Reports indicate that Newcastle United and Tottenham are also in the race for Gomes. Since Gomes is a former Man Utd player, it is no surprise that people will link him to United as well during the transfer window
Gomes might be Liverpool’s solution after missing out on primary target Martin Zubimendi in the summer. Gomes is valued at £21 million. If the Reds decide to move for Gomes they will be facing competition. However, the Reds might be forced to pay above his valuation.
