Liverpool are set to return to action this weekend as the international break finally comes to an end. But there are lingering injury concerns for Liverpool manager Arne Slot ahead of their clash with Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday.
Injury scare for Liverpool
The Reds have enjoyed a strong start to the season. But they will need to manage without some key players as they look to keep up the momentum.
Virgil van Dijk’s enforced rest due to suspension may have been a silver lining. But Slot has other significant injury issues to contend with.
Alisson Becker – Hamstring injury
The Brazilian No. 1 is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury for the second time this season. Alisson is expected to be out until after the November international break.

This means he will miss at least seven crucial fixtures in just 21 days. The hope is that he will be fit for Liverpool’s match against Southampton on November 24. In his absence, Caoimhin Kelleher will take up the gloves.
Harvey Elliott – Fractured foot
Elliott has been out of action since picking up a foot injury during the September international break. While there were hopes that he could return for the Chelsea game, it is unlikely he will be rushed back.

He is making progress, though, having shed his medical boot and begun running on the training pitches. A more realistic target for his return could be Liverpool’s trip to Brighton on October 30 depending on how his recovery continues.
Federico Chiesa – Unknown injury
The Italian forward was ruled out of Liverpool’s last two games and missed his international duty due to an injury picked up in training. However, Chiesa is expected to be ready to face Chelsea after a fortnight’s rest, with the club hopeful that his issue has now been resolved.

Alexis Mac Allister – Adductor
Mac Allister was withdrawn at half-time during the game against Crystal Palace due to an adductor overload. Managed carefully while with the Argentina national team, he played just 66 minutes.

Liverpool will need to continue monitoring his condition. He needs careful management to avoid aggravating the problem further. But he is expected to be available for selection against Chelsea.
