Liverpool are in talks to sign Andriy Lunin for £30 million to replace Alisson.
Liverpool targeting Lunin from Madrid
For about £30 million Sport claims that Liverpool are in talks to sign Andriy Lunin of Real Madrid.
Following his 2018 transfer to Real Madrid Lunin has had difficulty obtaining consistent playing time and is frequently loaned out.
Lunin was not selected for the Champions League final after Thibaut Courtois returned despite having a chance due to the teams success in La Liga and the tournament.
Since Real Madrid has offered to extend his contract which expires the following year Lunin has been weighing his options because he would still be the backup goalie.
Backup Goalie
As a possible replacement for Alisson who is reportedly leaving for Saudi Arabia Liverpool have expressed interest in Lunin.
Should a first-team spot be assured the Ukrainian goalie would be willing to join a Champions League team.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have held talks and Lunin is eager to join if he can land a starting position because he wants to play more regularly.
The Goalie Saga
With a transfer fee of about £30 million, Lunin is an affordable option and the move would be financially feasible for Liverpool.
Depending on Alisson’s possible departure Liverpool wants to add a capable replacement to bolster their squad.
Signing Lunin would depend on him fulfilling his career goals and maintaining his place as the starting goalie.
