Premier League heavyweight Liverpool FC stand firm on their decision to retain their 32-year-old attacking mainstay Mohamed Salah despite tempting offers from Saudi Pro League clubs.
As stated by Daily Mirror, the Egyptian winger is a hot target for a summer transfer. But Liverpool will not consider any offers, even if Salah denies to extend his current contract with the Reds.
Mohamed Salah’s meteoric rise to stardom began when he joined Liverpool from AS Roma in July 2017. Since his arrival, the Egyptian international has been a sensational presence on the field.
He quickly established himself as a key attacker not only for Liverpool but also in the Premier League history.
His remarkable performances have earned him Premier League golden boots. Very swiftly he became one of the best players in the world.
Throughout his time at Liverpool, Salah has been an integral part of the club’s success, and their journey to secure nearly every major honour in club football.
This long list of honours includes the long-awaited Premier League title in the 2019/20 season. Salah’s fabulous statistics speak for themselves. With nearly 350 appearances for Liverpool, he scored 211 goals and provided 89 assists.
Liverpool Not Ready To Say Goodbye To Mo Salah
Despite his contributions, Salah’s future at Liverpool was under question as he approached the final 12 months of his contract. This situation was not ignored by the interested parties.
Several high-profile clubs, particularly the clubs from the cash-rich Saudi Pro League were on their heels to lure Salah away from Anfield.
Last summer, Salah was heavily pursued by Al-Ittihad, the reigning Saudi Pro League champion at that time. The club made multiple tempting offers for Salah. But Liverpool stood firm on their ground.
They remained steadfast in their refusal to part ways with their right winger. Now Liverpool’s management is keen on Salah’s signature on a new contract.
This will not only cement Salah’s commitment to the club but also ensure a high asking price in future transfer windows.
Recent reports indicate that Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to wait until 2025 to get Salah’s signature. As of now, it remains to be seen how Liverpool react if a bid comes this year.
