Ex-Liverpool Hero On Verge Of Championship Reunion With Former Manager—Transfer Drama Unfolds!

The transfer saga of Liverpool is sizzling, and Nat Phillips is at the centre of the action. The 27-year-old defender, once a hero during the Reds’ injury-ridden 2020/21 season, is now catching eyes left and right after a rollercoaster few years.

Despite Trabzonspor’s cheeky £4 million bid, Liverpool are standing firm on their demand of £8m to £10m for their man. Phillips last appeared for Liverpool in an FA Cup tie against Wolves in January 2023.

He spent the 2023/24 season on loan. He played eight times for Celtic, including two Champions League matches before moving to Cardiff City.

At Cardiff, he made 18 appearances. His performance has sparked interest from several Championship clubs, potentially setting the stage for a significant move.

What Awaits Phillips: Liverpool Or Burnley?

Recent reports from The Athletic confirmed that Trabzonspor’s unsuccessful bid. Liverpool certainly value Phillips higher.

With just one year left on his contract, Liverpool might still consider keeping him, given their need for central defenders.

However, new head coach Arne Slot appears to have different plans, suggesting Phillips’s departure is imminent.

Adding to the discussions, the Liverpool Echo revealed that Burnley could be a possible destination for Phillips.

The club recently appointed Scott Parker, former Bournemouth manager. He has a history with Phillips.

During Parker’s tenure at Bournemouth, Phillips was instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League.

Parker has praised Phillips, describing him as a key player and an exceptional professional. He said,

“We brought him in in January and he was a driving force for us in getting promoted. An unbelievable professional, exceptional player in his moments.”

This connection could see Phillips reuniting with Parker at Burnley. For Phillips a move to the Championship’s upper echelons seems fitting, providing him with a platform to showcase his skills and potentially securing another promotion.
