Did LFC Just Lose A Golden Transfer Opportunity?
Even though Sky Sports reporter claimed LFC are guaranteeing a transfer, things are not looking well. As reports suggest, Manchester United will probably gain Joey Veerman, who was once on Liverpool’s radar.
It is just some weeks and the Premier League will be up ahead for the Reds. However, Slot is doing his best to prepare his squad for the new season.
Joey Veerman Going To Manchester United?
Before the 2024-25 Premier League begins, powerhouses are in a race to sign the best talents.
Amidst all these, the arch-rival of LFC are also not sitting idle at all; the Merseyside club was keeping a popular Dutch talent on their radar.
But, Manchester United is probably the best spot for Joey Veerman now.
The 25-year-old is a popular midfielder in the national football team of the Netherlands. This Dutch asset proved himself to be a good addition to PSV in the Dutch Super Cup.
In all of these 41 appearances, Veerman has scored 19 assists and 7 goals till now. That makes Joey Veerman a perfect target for Manchester United.
However, it appears that Liverpool also had the Dutch midfielder on their minds. Arne Slot specifically had Joey’s name on his shortlist, but they lost the race.
CaughtOffside reports that Manchester United were looking for a midfield target, and hence, they raced for Joey Veerman.
LFC originally wanted to replace Wataru Endo and look for a new name in the defensive-midfield section.
But they have once again turned down requests from Marseille for Wataru. The Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag knows about the Dutch talent, just like Liverpool’s new manager.
This has given Manchester United quite a headstart for acquiring Veerman. Since Erik knows about his performance due to previous Eredivisie face-offs, MUFC will probably sign him.
