James Pearce of The Athletic has reported that, despite numerous rumours, Liverpool have not yet received any bids for Luis Diaz this summer and they are certainly not interested in selling the Colombian winger either.
This statement may come as a surprise given the excessive speculation about Diaz’s future at Anfield.
However, it is worth noting that his involvement in international competitions, such as the Copa America, has likely paused any potential transfer discussions.
As the transfer window heats up following the conclusion of major tournaments like the Euros and Copa America, Liverpool’s stance on Diaz remains firm. The 27-year-old played a pivotal role in Colombia’s journey to the Copa America final.
He is expected to attract interest from several top clubs. After a narrow 1-0 defeat to Argentina in the final, Diaz will now take a brief break before rejoining Liverpool for the upcoming season under new manager Arne Slot.
Barcelona VS. PSG: Liverpool Not Ready To Sell Diaz
Barcelona are hot on Luis Diaz’s trail, with sporting director Deco making him a top priority. Rumour has it, according to Spanish outlet Sport, Deco even planned a secret meeting with Diaz in the USA before the Copa America kicked off.
The Catalan giants, under new manager Hansi Flick, are suiting up their armours to dethrone Real Madrid in La Liga. Henceforth, snagging Diaz could be their golden ticket.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly eyeing Luis Diaz as a possible successor to Kylian Mbappe, who recently moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Although PSG have also shown interest in Rennes winger Desire Doue and Bayern Munich’s winger Kingsley Coman. But Diaz stands out as a prime candidate to step into Mbappe’s shoes.
Despite interest from several European giants, Liverpool have made it clear that Diaz is not for sale. The club has set a hefty £75 million price tag to deter potential suitors.
Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto for £37.5 million two and a half years ago. Since then, he has been an integral part of the Liverpool team. Besides Diaz, Arne Slot has Mo Salah, Gakpo, Jota, and Nunez as his attacking options.
