As the Reds easily defeated Bournemouth 3-0 Liverpool supporters showered Ryan Gravenberch with praise repeating the famous chant they once used for Georginio Wijnaldum.
All six of Liverpool’s games this season have seen the Dutch midfielder start and he continued to show great play on Saturday.
Under new manager Arne Slot the Dutch star has thrived in a deeper-lying role.
Gravenberch won the hearts of Liverpool fans by shining against Bournemouth
Gravenberch won over the Anfield crowds’ affection with his ability to drive at defenders and disrupt opposition play.
If he keeps up his current form his composed performance which was highlighted by a deft turn and an incredible pass to Mohamed Salah suggests that he could follow in Wijnaldum’s footsteps.
Coming off the bench to display glimpses of his ability Federico Chiesa made his Champions League debut for Anfield against AC Milan.
With an outrageous 25-yard shot and a late attempt that struck the post the Italian forward who had joined from Juventus made an instant impression.
Chiesa showed off his attacking intent and flair despite not scoring or dishing out an assist giving Liverpool hope that he could be a vital member of the team.
Caoimhin Kelleher’s strong showing against Bournemouth which kept him in the starting lineup, despite his desire for more playing time elsewhere helped the club validate his value as a dependable backup goalkeeper while Alisson Becker was sidelined.
