Liverpool star Sadio Mane expressed interest in joining Bayern Munich following a phone conversation
Sadio Mane’s current Liverpool contract expires in a year and Bayern Munich has expressed interest in signing the Senegalese forward.
Liverpool vs Players’ contracts
After negotiations earlier this week, Liverpool star Sadio Mane reportedly showed an ‘interest’ in joining Bayern Munich. The Reds have postponed contract talks with their most extraordinary talents until the end of the season. Given that there is still a lot to play for in the final weeks.
Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield has been the subject of much discussion in recent months, with Liverpool thus far unable to match the winger’s expectations.
The Egyptian’s contract expires in 2023, but he’s not the only Liverpool player nearing the end of his deal.
Along with Mane, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino has a year left on his contract. The Englishman will most likely depart while a decision on Keita’s future is yet to be made.
Jurgen Klopp wants to keep Liverpool’s high-flying attacking team together. But, the longer Liverpool waits, the more conjecture about their big players’ futures intensifies.
Mane to Bayern Munich?
Bayern Munich expressing interest in signing the Senegalese international has put Mane’s future at the Merseyside into question. Earlier this week, reports said that Liverpool had received no contact from Bayern. Still, reports suggest that the Bundesliga club has met with Mane’s representatives.
With Gnabry’s and Lewandowski’s future uncertain. The German giants want to reinforce their attack in form of the Number 10.
According to Bild, Bayern spoke with Mane’s agent, Bjorn Bezemer, last week. More conversations were held by telephone a few days ago. Mane is believed to be ‘interested’ in negotiating with Bayern, looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The Poland international is looking to leave the Allianz Arena. The proceeds of his sale – possibly to Barcelona – are reportedly going towards a Mane bid.
Following Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa this week, Mane indicated that he would love to continue at the club.
When asked if he was happier at Liverpool because of his current goal-scoring form, Mane replied:
Yeah, sure, when we won the trophies I think I was more happy. But I think I just try to enjoy every moment and try to score and assist for my team mates. I think it is all about the team or nothing, the boys make it easier for me so I am obviously very happy.
Mane’s Winner against Villa took his season tally to 22 goals. And he is looking like a strong contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
