Liverpool will be going for the 7th European Cup, meanwhile, Real are aiming for the 14th.

So far, both sides have met eight times in the European competition. The Spanish side have been superior with eight wins, while the Reds have won once and drawn thrice.

But two of the meetings have been in Europe’s elite fixtures.

Alan Kennedy scored the only goal as Liverpool beat Real in Paris to win the European Cup final in 1981. Meanwhile, Real beat Liverpool 3-1 when Gareth Bale scored twice to lift the trophy at Kyiv in 2018.

There is a score to settle for Mo Salah with Real Madrid, as Salah left the field in tears in the final four years ago after a heavy fall under a challenge by Sergio Ramos.
