Liverpool and Real Madrid will be up against in the 2022 Champions League final in Paris, a repeat of the 2018 showpiece.

Liverpool to face Real Madrid on the 28th of May in the Champions League final in Paris. Carlo Ancelotti’s side snatched a dramatic win to knock out Manchester City 6-5 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Liverpool overcame Villarreal’s scare, to beat them 5-2 on aggregate the night prior.

In a tensed Santiago Bernabeu, Man City opened the scoreline to put 1-0 up in the 73rd minute. With the scoreboard 5-3 in City’s favor, Pep subbed off Mahrez and brought veteran Fernandinho on the pitch.

That’s where it went all wrong, with Real Madrid putting crosses into the City penalty box the home side scored two goals in the added time. In form, Rodrygo scored two goals from two headers.

As the game went into the extra time, it felt like Man City are going to bottle it again. Los Blancos captain Karim Benzema scored the penalty in the 95th minute and that was it.

Champions League isn’t just for Man City.

So two historic sides in the Champions League history will be up against in the final. Meanwhile, Liverpool have been designated as the home side for the final in Paris.

Liverpool will be going for the 7th European Cup, meanwhile, Real are aiming for the 14th.

So far, both sides have met eight times in the European competition. The Spanish side have been superior with eight wins, while the Reds have won once and drawn thrice.

But two of the meetings have been in Europe’s elite fixtures.

Alan Kennedy scored the only goal as Liverpool beat Real in Paris to win the European Cup final in 1981. Meanwhile, Real beat Liverpool 3-1 when Gareth Bale scored twice to lift the trophy at Kyiv in 2018.

There is a score to settle for Mo Salah with Real Madrid, as Salah left the field in tears in the final four years ago after a heavy fall under a challenge by Sergio Ramos.
