Liverpool are set to claim staggering Champions League prize money for their performances in the competition after seven league phase games.

The Reds have taken to the new Champions League format in a seamless fashion. Slot’s team currently sit at the top of the group standings, as they are the only side to have picked up maximum points from their seven matches thus far.

The English giants picked up their most recent win on Tuesday night at Anfield with a 2-1 victory over French side, Lille.

Goals from Mohammed Salah and Harvey Elliot were enough to secure the victory against Lille, who finished the game with 10-man after Aissa Mandi was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 59th minute.

With the win, the Reds have secured safe passage directly into the knockout stages, meaning they will avoid the playoffs of this season’s competition.

Liverpool only need one point from their final league game against PSV to guarantee a top-place finish in the inaugural season of the new-look Champions League.

Liverpool on track for £46m Champions League prize money

The prize money that the Reds could walk away from the group phase of the competition will total £46m if they win all eight group stage matches, and finish first in the table.

The Reds would receive £15.34m for qualifying for the group stage of the UCL. The club will also claim £1.73m for each group phase match won, and that will amount to £13.84m if all eight matches are won.

They will also receive £8.16m if they do finish at the top of the league. Another £9m is given out to all the teams who qualify for the Round of 16 by finishing in the top eight of the group standings.

Cumulatively, the total amount of money the Reds look on course to bag is an astounding £46.34m even before the start of the Champions League knockout phase.

Nevertheless, those in charge at Liverpool will undoubtedly be pleased with this substantial reward so early in the competition.

There is an additional £69.2m on offer for the Reds if they win all their knockout matches, including the final. In total, they could secure £115.54m if they go on to lift the coveted UCL trophy.
