Liverpool’s transfer ambitions crushed by Championship Club in last-minute winger snatch
Liverpool have been snatched from an opportunity to grab the Mexican winger Cesar Huerta by Championship side Sunderland, disappointing the fans.
Liverpool’s summer transfer window saw the important signing of Federico Chiesa and almost had an exciting addition of Mexican winger Cesar Huerta.
The Mexican winger, known as ‘ El Chino ‘, has accumulated an impressive 52 goals+assists over 187 games in his career.
The 23-year-old, now plays for UNAM, was reportedly on Liverpool’s radar as a potential long-term Mo Salah’s alternative.
The plan was to loan him to Championship leaders Sunderland but it fell through as the Black Cats decided to get him permanently.
Liverpool hunt for Mexican winger Cesar Huerta collapsed
The decision of Sunderland has caused the collapse of Liverpool’s pursuit of the young Mexican winger making Chiesa the only new addition to Liverpool in the summer of 2024.
Arne Slot and his backroom staff were evidently more active in the transfer market than fans may have realized, with Huerta’s near-done deal shedding a spotlight on the Reds’ futuristic approach.
Despite the failed transfer, fans are looking forward to Liverpool’s futuristic approach, especially with Salah’s contract on the verge of expiration.
Will Liverpool be able to extend Salah’s contract or find a young replacement?
