According to reports, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may leave Liverpool before the end of the current campaign.
Alex can speak with international teams about a pre-contract arrangement. He will be approaching the final six months of his contract with Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will likely leave Anfield this season due to his ongoing injury problems and inability to consistently crack Klopp’s starting eleven.
The former England international has seen consistent playing time recently as Liverpool has struggled with injuries. He plays primarily on the left as Jota and Diaz recover from chronic issues.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain has fallen further down the pecking order since Cody Gakpo’s recent arrival. He fell behind Fabinho, Harvey Elliott, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago in the engine room rankings.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will likely leave Liverpool
The Daily Mail claims that Oxlade-Chamberlain could leave Liverpool sooner. He could leave for less money during the current transfer window than by letting his contract expire.
According to the source, Chamberlain is wanted by numerous clubs in England and overseas. But it might be simpler for him to find a new home in January.
Chamberlain would be financially better off signing for a new club as a free agent. His options in the summer may be more limited.
Alex has 142 appearances for Liverpool and has 18 goals and 15 assists.
Chamberlain has scored just one. He struck a consolation goal in the Reds’ 3-1 loss to Brentford on January 2.
Chamberlain made his third consecutive Premier League start in that match. And given the Reds’ injury issues, he may make his fourth start against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
Darwin Nunez may also be unavailable for Klopp owing to an unidentified problem. It will necessitate the use of Gakpo through the middle as Oxlade-Chamberlain competes with Fabio Carvalho to start on the left.
The Englishman is one of three midfielders for Liverpool whose contracts expire in the summer.
It was first believed that Klopp’s team wanted to sign Keita into a new deal. But they have changed their minds. They are now willing to let the injured Guinean go.
Milner should also be permitted to leave as Liverpool makes room for the potential arrival of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
