Martin Zubimendi is still on the list of Liverpool, reporter confirms

Although Gravenberch has showcased good performance this season, Slot was looking for a defensive midfielder before.

Anfield was literally on the verge of signing Martin but, he decided to linger with his boyhood club.

Before the summer window ended, Liverpool fans really expected Zubimendi to be a part of the team. Even Richard Hughes was furious with his decision at the last moment.

Recently, The Athletic‘s David Ornstein updated on the current situation of the Spanish professional. While reporting about Roberto Olabe’s upcoming departure, he wrote:

“Zubimendi has been targeted by the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool; so far he has resisted the chance to depart the Basque side, however the admiration continues.”

For the past few months, there have been a lot of times when reports indicated that the 25-year-old regrets his decision. However, there are chances that the Merseysiders can re-open a window for him.

Liverpool can gain a valuable player if Zubimendi joins the Red squad. Having played for 1395 minutes in 16 games, Martin scored 1 goal and 2 assists. His progressive passes and style could make him the defensive midfielder Slot is looking for.
