Manchester City scuppered the attempt of Liverpool to acquire Ryan McAidoo from Chelsea by snatching the talented young player at the last minute.
Man City Steal Liverpool Target Ryan McAidoo
At the eleventh hour, Manchester City blocked Liverpool’s attempts to sign Ryan McAidoo a promising 16-year-old forward from Chelsea’s academy.
After rumours surfaced last week suggesting they were close to a deal Liverpool initially looked poised to defeat Arsenal and City in order to sign McAidoo.
McAidoo who played for Chelseas under-18 Premier League team and represented England at the U16 and U17 levels made the decision to leave Stamford Bridge in search of fresh possibilities.
But City stole the show concluding the transaction in spite of bids from other elite Premier League clubs.
Romano’s Take On The Steal
Per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano McAidoo had been highly sought after with Arsenal leading the initial chase for his signature.
With an impressive run in the UEFA Euro under-17 Championship qualification matches the young talent was reportedly the target of Arsenal’s best offer.
Liverpool’s desire to bolster their youth ranks and deal a major blow to their Premier League rivals in terms of transfers led to their interest in McAidoo.
Despite these initiatives, Manchester City moved quickly to acquire the forward and added him to their academy.

The winger’s choice to sign with Manchester City gives their youth team an impressive addition.
A versatile player who can play both centrally and as a winger McAidoo is well-known for his rapidity superb dribbling technique and success with Chelsea’s youth teams having won the Premier League under-17 cup.
For City’s academy which keeps drawing elite young players, his signing is a huge coup.
As they try to bolster their youth squads ahead of the upcoming season Liverpool and Arsenal will have to look elsewhere.
