Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief as center-back Ibrahima Konate is expected to return to action sooner than initially feared.

The French defender, sidelined with a knee injury since Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Real Madrid on November 27, was originally thought to be out for at least six weeks.

However, recent updates suggest he could make his comeback before the end of December, providing a much-needed boost to Liverpool’s defense.

The 25-year-old avoided serious damage to his knee, and reports indicate his recovery is progressing well.

Liverpool journalist David Lynch (via Anfield Agenda) has shared promising news, confirming Konate is already working out in the gym without a knee brace.

His return could come just in time for the crucial festive fixtures, strengthening Liverpool’s push for success in both the Premier League and other competitions.

When will Konate return to first-team for Liverpool?

Liverpool have five matches scheduled before the end of December, starting with Fulham’s visit to Anfield on Saturday.

Konate is expected to miss this match, along with the Carabao Cup clash against Southampton and a league encounter with Tottenham.

However, Lynch’s update suggests that Konate could be available between Christmas and New Year. Liverpool’s matches against Leicester on December 26 and West Ham on December 29 could mark his return to the squad.

In his absence, Joe Gomez has partnered with Virgil van Dijk in central defense. Despite some inconsistent displays, Gomez has shown enough promise to ensure Konate’s recovery isn’t rushed.

Konate’s return would be a huge lift for manager Arne Slot as Liverpool continues their outstanding form this season.

With the team vying for silverware on multiple fronts, having a fully fit squad is crucial for maintaining their momentum into 2025.
