Former Everton, Fulham, and West Ham defender John Heitinga is in talks with LFC to join as backroom staff under Arne Slot.
Liverpool backroom staff had a complete overhaul this summer after a number of key personnel left the club along with head coach Jurgen Klopp.
John Heitinga To Become Slot’s Backroom Staff?
A number of changes has taken place to Liverpool’s backroom staff this summer.
Sipke Hulshoff, Slot’s assistant at Feyenoord, has also followed him to Liverpool and will become the new assistant coach replacing Pep Lijnders.
Ruben Peeters will join Slot’s backroom staff as a physical performance coach, Fabian Otte replaces John Achterberg as a goalkeeping coach.
Slot also revealed two more people will join his backroom staff in his first press conference.
Now John Heitinga, former Everton defender, is in talks with Liverpool to join as backroom staff.
Heitinga speaking to the De Telegraaf :
“I am in talks with Liverpool. All I can say now is that I have been approached and that my agent Rob Jansen and I are in discussion.”
Heitinga was part of David Moyes’s coaching staff at West Ham last season, but his contract was not renewed.
West Ham reached the Europa League quarter-final while he was an assistant. He also represented Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Hertha Berlin during his playing days.
