Liverpool boss, Arne Slot has confirmed that Centre-Forward, Diogo Jota has an injury concern ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League match against Brentford.

Jota, who came off the bench to score the equalising goal against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, was said to have felt something during his cameo at the City Ground.

Jota has had to deal with injury woes already this term, with the 28-year-old having missed two months out with a muscle injury from October to mid-December last year.

Arne Slot gives update on injury of Diogo Jota

Slot speaking in his press conference said “We have to see today, it is not sure that he will be available. He felt a little niggle [midweek].” He added, “There is no doubt about Jota’s importance for us but he was not training. He finished the game against Forest but complained a bit about it”.

Slot later said: “It will be a struggle to have him on the pitch maybe on Saturday, but we are hoping to see him on the pitch in the near future again”.

The news of Jota’s injury comes as yet another disappointing setback for both the Portuguese striker and the club, especially considering Jota’s equaliser off the bench in midweek, which highlighted the finishing prowess of the forward.

Neither Luis Diaz nor Darwin Nunez is the perfect fit for the No. 9 position, especially as regards their consistency in front of goal, an area where Jota undoubtedly excels and he will be sorely missed in his time away with injury.

Slot said he does not expect the striker to be out of action for a long period. In the absence of Jota and with Diaz also not spotted in Thursday’s training session because of an illness[sore throat], it is a possibility that out-of-favour striker, Darwin Nunez could be given a run-in from the start at the G-TECH Community Stadium.

It remains uncertain how Slot will arrange his attacking line tomorrow in the absence of Jota, it will undoubtedly be a reliable trio that he trusts to deliver the result against the Bees.
