Injuries have continuously haunted the Liverpool camp this season and Diogo Jota won’t be recovering any sooner from his injury.
The forward has been out of action for months. Jota suffered a calf injury against Manchester City in a Premier League match in October. The Portuguese hasn’t played since then.
Thus, the Liverpool forward also missed out on the World Cup as well. Though back in October Klopp said that the injury is not serious but Jota still hasn’t recovered yet. The 26-year-old was looking decent this season. He had 5 assists in his 10 appearances.
Ben Dinnery: Diogo Jota to not be back from injury before the expected time
Earlier it was being reported that Jota will be back from injury before the expected time. However, Premier League injury expert Ben Dinnery has his own say. He said that Jota is not ahead of schedule as far as a return from injury is concerned.
Dinnery said this on his YouTube channel:
“There were reports from Portugal and Diogo Jota is slightly ahead of schedule. As far as we know he’s pretty much where he’s expected to be.”
Furthermore, he added that the 26-year-old went to Dubai as part of a training camp. However, the forward was training on his own and was focusing on individualized programs. It is expected that the Reds forward will not be back before February. Liverpool are very cautious with his injury and are not willing to take any further risks. Klopp will play him when he’s fully fit.
Liverpool having another Injury prone season
Along with Jota, Luis Diaz in the attacking line is also suffering from an injury. Earlier this month, he was injured in training.
Roberto Firmino is injured as well. Trent Alexander-Arnold is ill. Arthur Melo, Milner, and Curtis are on the list of injured players as well.
The Reds lock horns with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday. While Liverpool are struggling at the moment as many of their players are injured or are not fully fit to play against Unai Emery’s side. Secondly, for others like Virgil Van Dijk, it is still not clear whether he’ll play or not as he had just returned from World Cup.
The Reds are sitting 6th in the PL table. While the fans are optimistic for the second half of the season as the Premier League resumes on Monday.
