Dortmund went head to head with Chelsea in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. The German club registered a 1-0 victory over Chelsea. A great moment of leadership came from Jude Bellingham in the 20th minute of the game.
Chelsea have played their best football in the Champions League while Graham Potter has been their manager this season. Also, given the Blues’ domestic struggles for success, European football presented a fantastic opportunity for the team to redeem themselves in terms of results.
Chelsea appeared to be controlling the action. Yet, in football, everything may alter in a split second. The victory for Dortmund in the 63rd minute came from Adeyemi, who sprinted 70 yards before scoring after receiving a corner kick from Chelsea.
Jude Bellingham showing his leadership and stronghold in his team
The Scousers have a strong interest in the English midfielder. And Bellingham has shown his leadership abilities time after time. With his excellence and stronghold in the midfield, it is no wonder he will be a perfect fit for Klopp and the locker room at Anfield.
Throughout the Jurgen Klopp era, Liverpool have taken pleasure in having a number of strong leaders in their team, including Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson.
No one should be surprised by the Reds’ desire to recruit Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham this summer, but it is heartening to see the young player showcasing his leadership qualities by energizing the home fans during their Champions League match against Chelsea.
If the Reds can persuade the player to come to Merseyside, maybe we’ll see more of this from the youngster at Anfield.
Bellingham’s post-game comments
Adeyemi’s goal was initially a Chelsea corner that the 21-year-old expertly handled inside of his own half before racing past Fernandez and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Bellingham was astounded when Chelsea merely left Fernandez back as the covering defender, putting them at risk of being exposed to Adeyemi.
Bellingham:
“Just pace, wasn’t it? I was surprised they left just one back especially when they knew it was Karim that was going to be breaking,’ Bellingham said after the game.”
