Gabri Veiga to Liverpool

After successfully signing Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool are now looking to sign Spanish midfielder Gabri Veiga.

Jurgen Klopp and Co. have set their foot on the gas to bolster the midfield. It is already evident with the successful signing of Argentine star Alexis Mac Allister.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool have completed the Alexis Mac Allister deal. He is the first successful transfer for the Reds this season.

But one signing would not be enough to revamp the midfield. Many players have left the club this season. As a result, there is a vacuum in the middle of the park. If the Reds are able to pay less than £60M buyout clause then the club can go for more players.

The Anfield giants are looking to maintain this flow of successful transfers as the Merseysiders have targeted the rising La Liga star, Gabri Veiga. The 21-year-old Celta Vigo player has also attracted the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle. But again Liverpool are ahead in the race.

Liverpool to sign Gabri Veiga after Mac Allister

As per Northern Echo, Liverpool are very much interested in Veiga. The deal could progress faster as the player has a release clause in his contract.

While talking about the Spanish midfielder, former Celta Vigo and Brighton Manager Oscar Garcia told The Daily Mail,

“I don’t like to compare player but there are some similarities with players from other generations, such as Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, in terms of the type of midfielder that he is.

I believe he is a player who performs better when he is free to display all his physical strengths, allied to his very good technique.

He is more of a midfielder who can play box to box, rather than a player in the style of Sergio Busquets or Rodri, who are more positional.

He uses more of the field to show all the level that he has.

His main strengths are in possession of the ball, where he can eliminate many rivals with his movement, he can skip many lines of pressure from the opponent.

Besides, he is a player who likes to arrive into the box.”

The youngster has appeared in 36 La Liga matches and had 15 goal contributions. He has scored 11 times and assisted 4 this season. The Spaniard has primarily appeared in the right-hand side of the midfield three and has also put in work defensively. On average, he has registered 1.2 tackles and 0.6 interceptions per game (stats via Whoscored).

The Spanish youngster is valued at €30M by Tramsfermarkt. It would be interesting to monitor how Liverpool pursues him and secure the deal.
