Liverpool fans, buckle up, rumours are swirling around the Merseyside club’s interest in Germany’s next big thing, Florian Wirtz.
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been on fire, and it looks like he’s ready for the next step in his career. But don’t get too excited just yet – a hefty price tag of £125.9m (€150m) is attached to the 21-year-old star.
Liverpool vs. Europe’s elite in Wirtz race
Christian Falk (BILD reporter) reports while writing for The Daily Briefing, that Wirtz has made it clear he wants to move in the summer of 2025, and clubs like Real Madrid are already knocking on his door. Falk stated,
“Florian Wirtz made it very clear that he wants to make the next step in 2025.”
While clarifying his contract situation, Falk further said:
“He has a contract now until 2027, so Leverkusen want a big fee for his services – €150m. That’s a lot and obviously not every club can afford to pay this.”
But Liverpool are no strangers to big-money moves. With the club previously spending £75m on Virgil van Dijk and £85m on Darwin Nunez, there’s a glimmer of hope that the Reds might just go all-in for Wirtz. Although Madrid leads the race, Liverpool’s interest can’t be ruled out.
The question remains: will the Reds splash the cash on the young German, or should they focus on filling other gaps in the squad? One thing’s for sure – if Liverpool does decide to get involved, it’ll be a transfer battle to watch!
Let’s see if the Reds roll the dice. Who wouldn’t love to see Wirtz weaving his magic at Anfield?
