Seven Reds are named as homegrown players for the season in Liverpool‘s 23-player Premier League squad for 2022–2023.

The Summer transfer window is over. The Reds had a crazy window. The window took off greatly, with a lot of movement seen from them. But then Klopp announced they are not looking to sign anyone else. But due to a midfield crisis, Klopp had to change his decision and make a signing in the form of Arthur.

Each team was to submit their final squad list earlier this month, with the summer transfer window being closed.

Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay, and Arthur joined the Reds during the summer. And Jurgen Klopp added the fourth midfielder on deadline day.

The Premier League permits a squad size of 25 players if there are eight homegrown players listed. However, the club has only named seven players and has submitted a squad size of 23.

The same players that were part of the homegrown group at the beginning of the last campaign are still there. The list includes Caoimhin Kelleher, James Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Nat Phillips, Joe Gomez, and Jordan Henderson.

Phillips is Klopp’s fifth-choice center defender and a great domestic asset who did not receive a summer transfer. But you still can’t completely rule out another January transfer like last year.

At first sight, you might be confused at the absence of a few well-known names. But players like Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, and Carvalho are listed as under-21 athletes.

Many additional players from the ranks of the academy, such as Stefan Bajcetic, Ramsay, Kaide Gordon, Bobby Clark, Luke Chambers, and Isaac Mabaya, are also included on the U21s list.

No alterations are possible to this team until the winter window opens in January.
