Liverpool came from behind twice to earn a point against newly promoted Fulham at Craven Cottage
The Reds started their premier league 2022/23 campaign away from home as they faced the Champions of Championship Fulham at home. Fulham’s previous Premier League win was against Liverpool on 7th march 2021 as they were fighting to stay in the top flight. But they were still relegated and they are back this season after winning the second league. Moreover, Fulham would like to keep up their performance from the Championship. And would want to prove that they belong in the top flight.
Liverpool travels to London with Injury woes as the Reds come to the game with nine players injured. Kostas Tsimikas, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diego Jota, Ibrahima Konate, Kaide Gordon, Caoimhin Kelleher, Calvin Ramsay. Therefore the Reds didn’t have their full squad strength as they can make 5 substitutes this season. Liverpool had a 17-year-old, one 18-year-old and 20-year-old players in their lineup.

The Merseyside giants conceded the first goal. When Aleksandar Mitrovic got the better of Trent Alexander-Arnold to head Fulham the lead. Beautiful performance from Luiz Diaz in the first half. The Columbian’s goal was ruled offside. And his beautiful curling shot hit the post.

The Reds started the second half with more confidence and class. Supported by the Substitute star signing Darwin Nunez, who flicks past the keeper to score his first premier league goal on his debut. Moreover, the score line is all square with 1 – 1.
Aleksandar Mitrovic wins a penalty after a foul by Virgil Van Dijk. Allison dives the right way but couldn’t reach the low shot from the spot by Mitrovic. And Fulham leads again for the second time.
A beautiful cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Finds Darwin Nunez, whose control falls in the way of the Egyptian King who passes into the net to equalise for the second time of the evening.
Captain Henderson was so close to scoring a stoppage-time winner as his 5th minute injury time effort hits the post.

The Reds continue their unbeaten record this year and Salah becomes the first player to score a goal in the opening game for six consecutive years. Liverpool were slightly off from their style but bounced back and made sure we salvage something out of the game. Thiago limped off the turf with a hamstring problem, the boss and the fans are hoping that he won’t get added to the list.
The season has just begun and the Reds have nearly 10 players under the injury list.
