Why Liverpool’s Champions League opponent are frustrated with manager?
Currently, Arne Slot and his squad are taking on Premier League opponents as well as the Champions League powerhouses. Their next match is against Bologna, but the team is in a hard spot with their ‘winless’ manager Vincenzo Italiano.
Till today, Bologna have managed to stay winless, despite their valiant efforts to make a positive impact. This could have been a defeat if Heorhiy Sudakov, a prime choice for Liverpool, scored from Shakhtar’s side.
Bologna draws their first Champions League match under Vincenzo Italiano
After a disappointing defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest, Liverpool snatched their win away with a brilliant 3-1 over AC Milan. However, there seems to be a problem with the spirit of their next opponent in the League.
On Wednesday, things were not good at all for Bologna and Vincenzo Italiano after their debut Champions League match. They appear extremely frustrated with their manager after their opening fixture remained winless. Despite being hopeful, the team has started their spot in the Serie A clash with 3 draws and 1 loss.
This is definitely not a good way to make a run for the trophy. Players and fans of Bologna does not seem happy at Vincenzo Italiano. While talking to Sky Sports Italia, the manager was talking about their disappointing draw.
“We had chances, we played the game we wanted to in this Champions League debut. Skorupski did really well on that penalty, otherwise the game would’ve changed completely. I thank the lads for a good performance.”
Besides giving away praise and necessary criticism, he admitted that there were some chances that the team missed. Despite all the frustration, Vincenzo Italiano wants to make the best out of Bologna.
“We’ve got to grow and improve in the final third, we’ve also got to make more of set play situations. The lads do have some regrets, because it is a game where we could’ve taken home all three points.”
ACL injuries have taken out their team captain Ferguson and Cambiaghi. Their midfielder Azzouzzi is down with a serious knee injury. Will these allow Bologna to have a positive impact in their match against Liverpool?
