Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp makes a controversial decision

The summer pre-season plans of Liverpool have hit a roadblock as their intended training camp in Bavaria has been rejected by the local community.

Manager Jurgen Klopp had hoped to recreate the team’s successful 2017 preparations in the picturesque Tegernsee training camp.

However, opposition from the locals has forced the club to seek an alternative location. The planned stay at the luxurious Uberfahrt hotel and the use of FC Rottach’s training facilities are now unlikely to happen.

Irony and Rivalry: Bayern’s Gain as Liverpool Stumbles

Interestingly, Bayern Munich will be taking advantage of the coveted facilities during the same period, further highlighting their popularity among top football clubs.

Adding to the irony, Liverpool are scheduled to face Bayern Munich in a pre-season match in Singapore shortly after. Typically, the Reds begin their pre-season with a training retreat in central Europe before embarking on tours to either the US or the Far East.

The Reds’ Determination to Bounce Back

This summer holds great significance for Liverpool, following a disappointing season without major trophies and missing out on a Champions League spot. Manager Jurgen Klopp aims to strengthen the squad with several signings to bridge the gap and improve their prospects.

Despite the setback in Bavaria, Liverpool will still include a training camp in Europe as part of their pre-season preparations. The base is expected to be in the German town of Donaueschingen, located in the Black Forest region where Klopp grew up.

Local Backlash Alters Liverpool’s Training Destination

Initially, the club had hoped to return to Tegernsee, where they previously stayed in 2017, but concerns from the local community about the conditions after Liverpool’s visit led to a change of plans.

Reportedly, the community was dissatisfied with the state of their facilities and training pitches following the team’s stay. In fact, Liverpool were fined €3,000 for damages caused to a press tent during their previous visit.

As a result, Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach will take advantage of the Tegernsee facilities, with the latter approaching the end of their 10-year residency.

Liverpool Adjusts Pre-season Plans, Fixtures Revealed

If the reports from BILD are accurate, Liverpool will now redirect their pre-season plans to the Black Forest area. The club is expected to play a friendly against 2. Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC on July 19, with another warm-up fixture scheduled for July 24.

Pre-season activities will commence at the AXA Training Centre on July 8, followed by the training camp and a subsequent trip to Singapore for matches against Leicester City and Bayern Munich on July 30 and August 2, respectively.

The new Premier League season will kick off on the weekend of August 12/13, with the fixture list set to be revealed on June 15.
