Welcoming Chelsea at Anfield, it was always going to be a tough test for Liverpool as they were going to face the table toppers. Battling for the apex point in the Premier League table, both Liverpool and Chelsea were unable to pull out all 3 points.
Since the first blow of the wistle, the match looked quite balanced. Liverpool looked in control, with the captain Jorden Henderson missing out on converting a tempting volley into a goal. Meanwhile, Chelsea took their chances from a corner as Kai Havertz rose above everyone to give the Blues an early lead into the game.
As the game progressed, everyone was predicting it to be a topsy-turvy ride for Liverpool. And thus, soon the table turned around and it was now Liverpools turn to convert from a corner. Hence, the turning point of the game come across when Mane was about to score from a lose ball into the box but Reece James couldn’t control his hands from stopping the shot.
Thus, it eventually resulted in a spot-kick for Liverpool’s penalty specialist Mohamed Salah. Moreover, this also led Chelsea down to 10 men for the complete second half.
The remaining 45 minutes was a one way traffic as most of the game was being played in the Blues half. However, the Reds missed out on an opportunity being a men up to brake down Chelsea’s defence. And the game endedin a point each for the Reds and the Blues.
