Leicester City escapes major points deduction with shocking legal loophole – Premier League Outraged!

Leicester City have successfully escaped a points deduction after winning an appeal that challenged the Premier League’s jurisdiction over their alleged breach of profit and sustainability rules.

The main question in the case was whether Leicester had spent more than the £105 million allowed in three seasons.

Leicester disputed the commission’s jurisdiction to decide the case, even though the Premier League had referred the team to an independent commission for the violation.

In the end, the independent appeal board sided with Leicester City finding that the club’s accounting period which concluded on June 30, 2023, following their Premier League relegation did not fall under the league’s jurisdiction.

This decision has left the Premier League ” surprised and very disappointed”, as it effectively means that despite Leicester being a Premier League member during the 2019-2023 seasons, they cannot enforce their rules for that period.

In response, the Premier League expressed concern that this ruling could pave the way for other clubs to evade accountability for financial breaches under similar circumstances.

They argue that the result undermines the purpose of the PSR rules and puts the league’s ability to enforce rules in danger.

As expected Leicester City welcomed the independent board’s judgement that their actions were legal.

They expressed that their club did everything within the rules and did not break or breach any rules imposed by the Premier League.

Premier League, however, are looking to change this rule before more clubs begin to exploit and once again retain their accountability.
