Jurgen Klopp is unsure about the extent of his star man Darwin Nunez’s injury that he suffered in Liverpool’s thumping victory against Newcastle United.

Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo scored two crucial goals as the Reds earned a 2-0 win at St James Park. The Uruguayan striker broke the deadlock as he scored a sensational goal that came from an inch-perfect cross from Trent Alexnder-Arnold in the opening 10 minutes of the game.

But the LFC number 27 was forced off in the second half after falling awkwardly on his shoulder. Now the entire fan base awaits whether the forward, who has scored 11 goals since arriving from Benfica will be able to feature against the 14 times Champions League winner Real Madrid at Anfield on not.

Klopp on Darwin Nunez’s injury

The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp said

“The bad news is Darwin has something on his shoulder.”

The German boss further added saying

“He had to go off with that issue and we need further assessment. I don’t know (the extent) in this moment. In this moment it is painful. Hopefully, it is just painful and nothing more.”

The Reds kept their top 4 hopes alive with this crucial win against the in-form Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United. The Magpies tried to come back as the Reds keeper Alisson tipped Allan Saint-Maximin’s solo run and shot at the crossbar. Eddie Howe’s side again came close when they hit the bar again with a Dan Burn’s header.

If Darwin is out against the Los Blancos then this will be a big blow for the English side. The Uruguayan striker has scored 6 goals and given 3 assists in the 17 matches he has played in the PL. The Liverpool number 27 has an expected xG of 9.1 and an expected xAG of 4.0.

This victory took the Reds within six points of fourth-place Newcastle, with a game in hand.
