Manchester City may have caused the Reds manager a more significant transfer problem than Erling Haaland. As Klopp makes a claim about City and the title race.
Klopp is worried City might take the title away
Jurgen Klopp replies to a Liverpool challenge by exclaiming, “Oh my God!”
According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool will have a “big fight” to make the Champions League this season. He feels Manchester City are the favourites to win another Premier League title.
“I have no idea who will make the race, it looks like City in the end will be the champion. If we hadn’t been champions I think they would’ve won it five or six times in a row which is really crazy in this country.
But our target is to play the best possible season for us. What can we squeeze out? Let’s see. Really looking forward to it. That will be a massive fight, oh my god. That’s the Premier League.”
Only their title victory in 2020 kept Pep Guardiola’s team from winning the trophy a record five years in a row. The Reds finished a point behind City in another epic title battle last season.
With the high-profile additions of Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland, the tandem has already signalled their intentions for the upcoming campaign.
In addition, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United also made over-the-summer roster additions. So, Klopp anticipates a fierce battle to secure a top-four spot before even considering challenging City’s hegemony.
Less than two weeks remain until the start of the new Premier League season. And it is expected to be among the most competitive in recent memory.
Calvin Ramsay, Darwin Nunez, and Fabio Carvalho have been added to Liverpool’s roster in the summer market. While primary title challenger Manchester City has added Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, and Leeds United player Kalvin Phillips.
However, other teams besides the top two from the previous season have made promising additions as well. This is including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
One issue Jurgen Klopp has expressed worry about is the way the window has played out. And it also has to do with the way City have conducted themselves this summer.
A new rivalry is up on the cards as Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez pave their way into the Premier League.
