Liverpool fans have been buzzing ever since Jurgen Klopp stepped down as manager at the end of last season, but now, the charismatic German has dropped some hints about his future in football.
Klopp, who led the Reds to seven major trophies, including a Premier League and Champions League, has been enjoying his time away from management—but it seems like he might not be gone for long.
Since his emotional farewell to Anfield, Klopp has been spotted at various major sporting events, including Euro 2024 and the Paris Olympics. Yet, the question on everyone’s mind remains: when will Klopp return to the dugout?
Jurgen Klopp touchline comeback at Dortmund
Klopp made his first appearance on the touchline this weekend for a special testimonial match at his former club, Borussia Dortmund. Signal Iduna Park was the scene of an emotional farewell game for two Dortmund legends, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lucas Piszczek, and Klopp was back doing what he does best—managing the Blaszczykowski XI to a thrilling 5-4 win.
After the match, Klopp was asked about how he’s been spending his time since leaving Liverpool. “I’m working, but not as much as I used to,” he revealed. “I’m not just doing nothing, but sometimes I am. I don’t miss anything!”
For Liverpool fans, those words might carry some hope. Klopp’s passion for the game remains, even if he’s been taking a well-deserved break.
And in true Klopp fashion, he couldn’t resist giving his signature fist pumps to the famous ‘Yellow Wall’ of Dortmund fans after the match—a sight Reds supporters are all too familiar with.
“It was very emotional again” – Jurgen Klopp
Klopp admitted that being back at Dortmund brought back many memories. “It’s a lifelong dream come true,” he said. Reflecting on his time at Liverpool and Dortmund, he added, “Just a few months ago, I was given an emotional farewell in Liverpool. Today it was very emotional again.”
When asked how he balances his love for his former clubs, Klopp responded with a classic analogy: “When you have three children, you love them all. And that’s the same with my three clubs—Liverpool, Dortmund, and Mainz. I love them all.”
While Klopp enjoys his time off, Liverpool fans can’t help but wonder when—and where—he’ll return. One thing’s for sure: Klopp’s love for the game hasn’t faded, and his next chapter may be just around the corner.
