Jurgen Klopp has made a claim about his future at Anfield after the Reds drew 0-0 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which leaves them 7 points off a UCL spot.
The Merseyside club were held to a 0-0 draw by Chelsea, who played their first game without their head coach, Graham Potter, after being sacked by the club.
Meanwhile, it leaves Liverpool in eighth place in the table and seven points adrift of the top four places. However, the Reds have a game in hand and face the League leaders on Sunday.
Although the Gunners defeated Liverpool in the reverse fixture at the Emirates, Liverpool have an edge over Arsenal at Anfield. The Gunners haven’t managed to beat the Merseyside club at Anfield since 2012.
However, with Arteta’s men being in amazing form, it would be no surprise if Arsenal manage to beat the Reds at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Klopp made 6 changes to the team that lost to Man City at the weekend. Surprisingly, Mo Salah, Trent, Robertson, and Gakpo were a few names who were on the bench.
“We have to keep going”: Jurgen after Chelsea draw
After the draw with Chelsea, Klopp was asked if he had experienced a campaign such as this before in his career. Klopp told BBC, via The Mirror that he wouldn’t have been the Liverpool manager if he had a couple of such campaigns.
“No, thank God. I wouldn’t be manager of Liverpool if I had a couple of these seasons. We have to get through it. That’s how life is. You have to fight to change your fortunes.
We’re fine with a point, a lot of good stuff. We showed a lot of fight. We have to keep going.
The midfield was well-connected. We had our opportunities up front. It was not speculator. It was a step. That’s what we have to do – make steps. Sometimes smaller steps. We need to have these chances. You need to keep having chances. I’m not disappointed about that. They scored twice but both goals were disallowed.”
Moreover, there were speculations that the German rested his main players with Arsenal in mind. Speaking on that, the Liverpool boss said that some of them certainly needed to rest.
“Some needed a rest. I didn’t expect a team with six changes to play the best game of the season. The boys who came in used their opportunity and showed they were ready.
We cannot talk about the goals we have if we don’t get points. We don’t give up, we will fight. We can talk a lot but we have to show. We saw a step in the right direction tonight.”
Liverpool faces Arsenal in the next match and even though the London side is on top of the League, they haven’t fared well at Anfield.
Thus, Liverpool could have the home advantage over the Gunners who would be looking to maintain their 8-point lead over City.
