Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was impressed by Cody Gakpo in his debut match against Wolves in the FA Cup. The Reds were stopped by the English side in a controversial 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool debut for Gakpo

Liverpool’s new signing Cody Gakpo made his first appearance for the club since his January arrival from the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.

Gakpo started on the left wing and played 84 minutes before being replaced by Alex Olade-Chamberlain.

Klopp spoke to ITV following the match and admitted that the Reds

“have to get him in better positions”

going forward.

“We cannot expect it to be perfect, but he showed good signs. We have to get him in better positions but that will come no doubt.”

The Merseyside giant’s number 18 also shared his thoughts on his own performance to the Liverpool website following the match against the Wolves.

“Really great atmosphere,” the Dutch international said

“For my own game, I think I showed some good moments and some sloppy moments.”

“So, I can also still improve on those points and keep working and try to help the team as much as I can. Of course you learn the most when you’re playing games, so I’m looking forward.”

Gakpo also said

“I think we played in phases really good football but in the end we didn’t score enough, so that’s a pity.”

Gakpo is expected to leave a mark for the Reds side. After having an exceptional season in the World Cup, he is expected to repeat the same for the English side.

Liverpool are in desperate need to restart their season. With their key players injured, LFC looking to increase their squad depth. Enzo Fernandez is the name that is currently circulating in the backroom of the Merseyside giants. The Argentine’s playing style will both complement the Dutch international and the squad.

Will LFC go forward with this transfer deal considering all their financial difficulties?
