Jurgen Klopp is a real fan of Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to the latest Liverpool transfer news. The midfielder is expected to move this week.

According to The Athletic, Sander Berge will almost leave his parent club Sheffield United within the next few hours of the transfer window.

Why Klopp wants Sander Berge?

The Championship side is in real financial uncertainty, and selling their star midfielder this week would ease things considerably. This transfer will also help them to keep steady for what could be a promotion season.

This financial trouble caused several clubs to line up for the Norwegian midfielder. The Reds are one of those interested clubs who are looking to resolve their midfield problem as soon as possible. Klopp claimed that he is a ‘firm fan’ of Berge.

But according to Sky Sports reporters, it’s Fulham who are leading the race at this moment. Reporter Kaveh Solhekol claimed that the English side has an offer of 20M on the cards.

The transfer race is on

The Merseyside giants need to act fast to secure this deal. We all know the influence of Klopp is hard to refuse. The German has a history of transforming players into legends and it is because of his recruitment the Reds are England and European champions.

Liverpool have been linked with Berge for years now. In 2019 Goal reported that the English giants are monitoring Berge.

The 24-year-old played 19 matches where he scored 4 goals and gave 3 assists.  He has an expected XG of 2.6, more than any Liverpool midfielder this season.

The real problem of the Merseyside club is its financial difficulties. Jurgen Klopp also said after the Brighton game that there wouldn’t be any more January signings.

But it’s Liverpool and Klopp, no one knows what is their next move.
