The Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch displayed his world-class potential against Wolves in the Premier League, Arne Slot was impressed how Jurgen Klopp developed him.
Ryan Gravenberch was again very good in midfield as Liverpool battled to a 2-1 victory over Wolves in the Premier League.
Gravenberch stood out with his effective ball control and defensive contributions despite the teams less-than-perfect performance.
He completed 92 percent of his passes in a crowded midfield and won almost every tackle and duel.
Arne Slot lauding Klopp for nurturing Gravenberch
Liverpool were able to keep control even in difficult situations thanks to his Fabinho-like ability to anticipate and win the ball back and his composure under pressure.
Arne Slot said on Sky Sports,
“He is very comfortable on the ball. With him and Mac Allister, that helps if you want to have the ball. The two of them can run as well.
He is doing a good job without the ball and that surprised me, because I know him from the Dutch league.
Jurgen did a really good job.”
Gravenberch’s development off the ball has been acknowledged by manager Arne Slot who attributes it to his time at Bayern and playing for Jurgen Klopp who made him a more well-rounded player.
Gravenberch’s impact was best demonstrated in two instances: the first occurred when he intercepted the ball to start a counterattack and the second occurred when he spun away from three Wolves players to complete a precise pass, although which did not eventually converted in any goal.
The Dutch midfielders effectiveness in Liverpool’s possession game and defensive tenacity are apparent even though he hasn’t been lighting up the field with spectacular displays.
Even though the season is still early Gravenberch’s increasing reliability is encouraging and there doesn’t seem to be any sign that his form is declining.
