Journalist provide important contract update on Mo Salah

Football journalist David Ornstein has revealed an insightful update on Liverpool winger Mo Salah contract situation and his future at Liverpool, followed by the winger’s recent comments that gave raise to concerns among fans.

Mo Salah played the role of a talisman in Liverpool’s triumph over Manchester United in the Premier League game at Old Trafford by directly involved in all three goals scored by the Reds.

He hinted that this season could be his final dance at Anfield, as no one from the club has approached him about extending his contract, which expires in the summer of 2025.

However, Ornstein believes that could change, as Salah remains in peak form and Liverpool might soon attempt to negotiate a new deal to secure his future at the club.

Journalist reveals intel on the contract situation between Liverpool and Salah

Ornstein, speaking on a podcast, revealed details about Salah not leaving for Saudi Arabia and the current situation that prevails between the winger and Liverpool.

He said,

“Obviously the move to Saudi Arabia didn’t materialize a year ago, Liverpool rejected the approaches of Al-Ittihad.

Before this transfer window opened, Salah was completely expected to stay at Liverpool during the summer transfer window. that was his intention. That was the expectation of Liverpool.”

He then goes on to reveal more information about the contract situation that prevails among the key players of Liverpool like Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.

He said,

“We don’t know anything about the outcome to the situation [Salah’s contract] yet, Mo Salah mentioning it publicly could be construed as a way on applying pressure on Liverpool. Virgil van Dijk spoke about his own situation with the contract expiring at the same time.

We’ve not heard anything, to my knowledge from Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is the third member of that trio whose contract expires in 2025.

This is sort of the elephant in the room.

Salah [and van Dijk] are totally appreciated. So the stage of their career is where they will have a major say; will they want to continue? He [Salah] is a player, who can walk into any squad in world football and continue to excel.

Maybe he wants that to be at Liverpool, but the deal makers have to make it happen.”

The words from Ornstein give a ray of hope for Liverpool fans but they will be happy when Salah decides to stay at Anfield.

Fans are hoping that their club would step up and resolve the contract issue that revolves around their key players.
