John Barnes predicts Stefan Bajcetic will secure a starting spot for Liverpool under Arne Slot, highlighting the youngster’s potential and importance in the team.
Reds’ Pre-season
Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA has already highlighted some promising young talent, with Arne Slot’s squad featuring several academy players.
The Reds secured a 1-0 win against Real Betis, a match where Slot gave significant playing time to young players.
Among these, Trey Nyoni impressed significantly in midfield, catching the eye of fans and critics alike.
However, John Barnes believes that Stefan Bajcetic, another Liverpool youngster, is poised to make a substantial impact in the upcoming season.
Bajcetic Will Enter Liverpool Playing XI
Barnes, who is with Liverpool in the USA as a club ambassador, has been closely observing the squad. He noted that both Jarell Quansah and Stefan Bajcetic stand out among the youth.
Barnes pointed out,
“Bajcetic because that holding role for Liverpool, is a very crucial role and I think we missed Fabinho when he left.”
Barnes believes that Bajcetic is well-suited for this pivotal position and could become a key figure in the team, particularly given the importance of a holding-midfielder role in the Premier League.
Barnes’ Optimism
Despite Barnes’ optimism, Bajcetic’s journey has been hampered by injuries, affecting his development over the past year.
Jurgen Klopp previously described Bajcetic as ‘super talented,‘ but recent performances suggest he is still regaining his form.
When Curtis Jones was substituted during the match against Real Betis, Slot opted for Nyoni over Bajcetic, indicating that the latter is still working to shake off some rust.
Nevertheless, Barnes remains confident in Bajcetic’s potential and believes he could emerge as a crucial starter for Liverpool.
