Fabrizio Romano gives new update on Martin Zubimendi
Liverpool are strong admirers of Martin Zubimendi, the Reds did not pursue any other midfielder after missing out on Zubimendi. Fabrizio Romano via Youtube:
“Arne Slot, the Liverpool manager, had to comment on the situation this weekend – with the journalist asking the manager about Zubimendi. And his answer is important for our point. Slot said ‘it’s time to move on’ and ‘he didn’t join’, and ‘we are happy with the players we have especially Ryan Gravenberch.
“Liverpool didn’t sign another midfielder this [past] summer because they only add players when they see top level, top potential, and top value.” Fabrizio Romano on Martin Zubimendi situation.
“The case of Zubimendi is very clear; they tried every way, also including Stefan Bajcetic on loan in the conversations and prepared to pay the release clause… but the player wanted to stay at Sociedad.
So, for Liverpool, interest remains. Zubimendi remains a player of interest for Liverpool – the board, the directors, also the head coach Arne Slot who approved Zubimendi as a target. But they understand nothing is new, nothing is fresh, nothing has changed despite some reports in Spain [to the contrary]”
As Fabrizio Romano said Liverpool still like Martin Zubimendi. But the player still wants to stay loyal to his boyhood club. They were reports that Zubimendi regrets the decision he made, but the news was fake.
