The agent of Napoli midfielder Elif Elmas has publicly responded to claims of him leaving Napoli amidst interest from Klopp’s Liverpool.
The North Macedonian has had a good season at Napoli while contributing 6 goals and 3 assists in thier title-winning campaign. He has been a key part of Luciano Spalletti’s squad, featuring in 35 of 37 games.
However, the midfielder has only started 13 of those, which has led to claims that he could be on the move this summer.
Elif Elmas: The new name on the Liverpool transfer list
The Reds are in the market for midfielders and the 23-year-old’s name hasn’t been lurking around as often. However, with Romano speaking about the Macedonian, it might as well be a transfer happening behind the doors.
The Italian journalist is one of the most renowned sources of information for transfers. Most times, fans will believe the Italian over even what their club tells them directly.
Elmas’ agent, George Gardi spoke about the player’s future during an interview with Romano. During the discussion, Romano asked Gardi to comment on interest in his client from Liverpool.
“One of your players who did very well at Napoli, Elif Elmas he did very well, won the title after 33 years at Napoli, doing an excellent job really.
He’s a player who’s always in the rumours. We heard something about Liverpool, about Newcastle recently. I wanted to ask you if there’s anything concrete with Liverpool and Newcastle as they were linked to the player. And how’s the general situation of Elif, who’s doing very, very well at Napoli.”Asked Romano
To this, the agent responded that there would be some evaluations with the new manager coming in.
“I think this player’s a bit underestimated because he’s a young player that has a lot of experience in the national team.
He’s been playing for four seasons already at a high level. There’s a lot of interest in him because he’s very versatile on the field, he plays in three, four positions. He’s a player with big personality and big future.
With the new coach of Napoli there will be some evaluations, and we will understand if they still believe in the player. If not we will find a solution because he has interest not only interest from the Premier League, how you said, but also from Spain and German clubs.”Responded the agent
Would the Macedonian fit at Liverpool?
Apart from the dilemma, the player would be a good fit for the Reds. Standing 6ft tall, Elmas is a great physical presence. Moreover, the midfielder is also technically sound and quite similar to Curtis Jones.
However, he might not be the typical Klopp midfielder that we have come to know of. Moreover, it feels like Liverpool have a different profile of midfielder in their sights this summer. Elmas is one to keep an eye on though, Romano has just made sure of that.
