Former England international Gary Lineker has claimed that Mohamed Salah will extend his Liverpool contract to stay at Anfield.

The 2024-25 feels like a fantasy for the Anfield giants as they top both the Premier League and Champions League points table.

What Jurgen Klopp had been trying for years with the Merseysiders, domestic and European dominance, Arne Slot has achieved that in the first season of his Liverpool career.

As the Reds continue to dominate the top level of football, a severe concern is looming over their head.

The contracts of skipper Virgil van Dijk, talisman Mohamed Salah and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold are due to expire coming summer.

The club officials are in worry whether the players are ready to continue their career at the PL side.

Salah’s situation in particular has been tricky as no firm decision regarding his future is reached yet.

The Egyptian King is maintaining ambiguity around his next career decision, despite huge interest from Saudi Pro League.

Speaking to the journalists after emphatic 2-0 victory against the Sky Blues, where he was the main man again after an assist and a goal, the 32-year-old said,

“Until now, this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool.”

However, Gary Lineker thinks that the forward might be bluffing. Commenting on The Rest is Football podcast, the pundit said,

“Did you see Mo Salah again saying, well, you know, this is probably the last game I’ll play against Manchester City at Anfield, so it had to be a really good one.

The way he’s saying these things, I think it’s almost part of his negotiations that he’s, I think, genuinely is interested in staying.

Because I think if he was going to go, I think he’d be quiet on things like that. Now I might be wrong. I’m only guessing on this, but time will tell.”

The former Roma attacker has performed exceptionally well, amassing 13 goals and 11 assists across all competitions so far.

Despite his age, he is not showing any sign of slowing down anytime soon, so securing his services for a few more seasons might benefit Liverpool.
