Who Is Likely To Be Preferred By Slot On The Left Wing?

Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Luis Diaz are three options for Slot to use in the left for Liverpool.

Even though Jota and Nunez can play on the left they are likely to be played as a number 9. Jota’s injury record is also a concern.

Gakpo, Szoboszlai, Or Diaz ?

Luis Diaz

There were rumours about a possible move for Diaz in the summer with Barcelona and PSG interested. But Diaz played down all rumours and is likely to stay.

Slot will definitely be watching Diaz in the Copa America and will want to see him in pre-season before making a decision on him.

Diaz’s quality will certainly suit Slot’s system. With his skills, there is no doubt he will be an asset to Slot’s squad.

Diaz came to the Premier League in 2022 and instantly took the left wing spot moving Mane in as a striker.

Cody Gakpo

One of the players that will benefit from this manager change is Cody. He was constantly used as a false 9 or as a number 8 under Klopp.

Many fans believe Cody’s best position is on the left and fans want to see him play there more.

Gakpo recently bagged a goal against Poland from the left wing in the Euros.

Slot has seen Gakpo play for PSV on the left, therefore many fans believe Cody will be the best fit on the left.

Dominik Szoboszlai

There are concerns about where Szoboszlai fits best in Slot’s system.

With Slot’s preferred 4-2-3-1, Szoboszlai does not suit as holding midfielder in a double pivot, So it either number 10 or on the left.

With number 10 likely to be occupied by Mac Allister we might see Szoboszlai more on the left.

Szoboszlai played on the left for Hungary in the Euros and managed to get an assist for Hungary’s only goal.

Slot most certainly will use the ongoing international tournaments and the pre-season to make his decision.

Gakpo, Szoboszlai or Diaz fans will definitely want to see the best decision to be made.
