The Uruguayan forward, Darwin Nunez who arrived at Anfield in 2022 for £85 million, has faced an inconsistent role in the squad. Despite his struggles, the club remains determined to keep him, valuing him at a higher price.

Liverpool has rejected a lucrative £70 million bid from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr for striker Darwin Nunez.

Al-Nassr was eager to bring Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabia, adding him to their list of high-profile signings. The deal would have seen Nunez join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool’s concern with Darwin Nunez

However, Liverpool’s management believes the striker still has a future in their squad.

Manager Arne Slot has rotated his attacking options, leaving Darwin Nunez frustrated with his limited starts.

The Uruguayan international wants more playing time, but Liverpool is reluctant to let him leave.

Since joining Liverpool, Nunez has shown glimpses of brilliance but struggled with consistency in finishing.

His frustration has grown as he faces competition from Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota.

With Al-Nassr moving on to other targets, Darwin Nunez must now focus on proving himself at Liverpool.

Saudi takes another leap in the market

According to GOAL, Al-Nassr eventually shifted their focus to Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, finalizing a £64 million ($80m) deal for the Colombian forward.

Rejecting Al-Nassr’s offer signals the club’s belief in his potential despite his inconsistency.

Reports suggest Nunez is unhappy with Liverpool’s decision to block his exit. He believes a move could revive his career.

The summer transfer window could be crucial for his long-term future. If his situation does not improve, he may push for a move again.

For now, Liverpool and Nunez must find a way to move forward together.
