Liverpool has continued its training to get ready for Wednesday night’s Champions League match against Napoli.

Tuesday afternoon’s training session at Liverpool’s AXA Training Center was in preparation for their Champions League opener against Napoli.

Prior to their Tuesday afternoon journey to Naples, the Reds were put to the test. Later tonight, Jurgen Klopp and Alisson Becker are due to address the media.

Prior to matches against Ajax and Rangers, Liverpool will face the Serie A side to begin their 2022–23 Champions League campaign. In addition, we have looked at four things from the session you might have missed in advance of Wednesday’s game.

Curtis Jones still missing

Despite returning from a four-week absence to sit on the bench against Newcastle United last Wednesday, Curtis Jones was once again a noteworthy omission from the practice.

Jones was missing from the squad that Everton held to a scoreless draw at Goodison Park at the weekend after being an inactive substitute in the victory at Anfield.

In the preseason, Jones had a major role for the Reds. And he came off the bench in the Community Shield victory over Manchester City. A day later, he was unable to play against RC Strasbourg in a friendly at Anfield due to a knock.

New training gear

During their practice at the AXA Training Center, Liverpool’s training gear made headlines once more.

The Reds’ players and staff once again looked sharp in their “Purple Strike Elite” uniforms. Recently, the training gear won praise from fans as Klopp wore the jacket to a pre-game news conference.

The uniform is made with cutting-edge sweat-wicking fabric that is put strategically in high-heat locations to help keep you cool and comfortable, according to the club’s online store. Players may move more freely while improving their game thanks to a streamlined design that produces a personalized fit.

Arthur’s Return to Italy

A week after leaving his nation to relocate to Merseyside, new kid Arthur Melo went to the meeting as he gets ready to return to Italy.

After making a last-minute approach for the Brazilian on transfer deadline day, Liverpool last week sealed a season-long loan agreement for the midfielder. Amid recent injuries, the 26-year-old helps Klopp’s midfield situation.

After signings of Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay earlier in the transfer window, the Brazilian became Liverpool’s fourth summer addition. Following Henderson’s injury against Newcastle, Reds manager Klopp was eager to add more midfield reinforcements.

Since joining Juventus in the summer of 2020, defensive midfielder Arthur has been in and out of the squad. Last season, he made 31 appearances, of which 16 were starts. He hasn’t had a single game this season and skipped the Italian team’s preseason tour.

The Brazilian previously spent two years with Barcelona. In May 2019, he made an appearance as a late substitute in the infamous 4-0 Champions League semifinal second leg loss at Liverpool. He could make his Reds debut tomorrow night after being a weekend replacement in the draw with Everton.

Young Trio Present

The fresh faces of young people Isaac Mabaya, Stefan Bajcetic, and Melkamu Frauendorf also took part in the session.

They could all be travelling with the Reds and have all played for the club at the under-23 level. Mabaya, who last year got his first professional deal with the team, can play either at right-back or in the middle of the field.

Mabaya was a member of the squad for the Asia tour and the training camp in Austria during the preseason. And he took part in the first team. While Bajcetic came from Celta Vigo to Liverpool in February 2021.
