Arne Slot the Liverpool manager was really impressed by the new Liverpool signing from Juve Federico Chiesa, Slot has really exciting plans for the Italian in the future.
In the closing minutes of Liverpool’s 3-1 Champions League victory over AC Milan, Federico Chiesa made his eagerly anticipated debut entering as a substitute and receiving a rousing cheer from the visiting Kopites at the San Siro.
Due to an interrupted pre-season, Chiesa had to wait for his first appearance after joining from Juventus for £11 million last month.
Arne Slot impressed by Chiesa Liverpool debut
He hadn’t practised with Juventus first team and needed time to get back to match fitness so he was unable to play in both – the 3-0 victory over Manchester United and the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
Slot said,
“He had a difficult pre-season because he was not always able to train with the first team of Juventus, so he had to train a lot on his own,
Then it takes a bit of time to get your match fitness. It’s getting better and better. He needs playing minutes now, but he has competition from some good wingers as well, so let’s see when we’re going to use him.
But he’s going to be a big asset for us, a very good player for us, that’s clear. That’s what we knew before we signed him and it’s also what we see on the training ground now.”
Chiesa a vital member of the Juventus and Fiorentina teams intends to contribute significantly as he gets used to his new environment.
In comparison to high-profile arrivals like Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, his signing is viewed as more of an opportunistic move with less immediate pressure.
This might be advantageous for him since it would free him from the pressure of having to meet high standards in order to find his rhythm and form.
More minutes against Bournemouth this weekend and perhaps a first start in the League Cup matchup against West Ham United are likely to come for him as Liverpool continues to ease him into the action.
Chiesa’s signing might prove to be a genius move turning Juventus’ loss into a significant win for Liverpool provided he has time to adjust and develop.
