In today’s last-day Premier League match against Southampton, Liverpool bid farewell to Roberto Firmino, their departing team-mate. Mohamed Salah, visibly emotional, expressed his admiration for the contributions by Firmino, both on and off the field.

This game marked Firmino’s final appearance for Liverpool, following his impactful last-minute goal against Aston Villa in his Anfield farewell last weekend.

Accompanying Firmino in his swansong were vice-captain James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who will also leave the club as their contracts expire next month.

Salah, acknowledging the strong bond he shares with Firmino, specifically praised the Brazilian forward during an interview with Stadium Astro.

“I can’t say just one moment. We have been together for six years.
We have shared so many good moments inside the field and outside.

In the locker room, he also sits right next to me, so we speak and have played together almost every game.

It’s very emotional to speak about him. As long as he and his family are going to be happy, that’s what I wish.”

Salah added:

“He’s been a really important player for us. He’s given everything for the club, he’s always tried to be humble and to work hard, this is what he does.

He’s been very important and he’s a really good guy, as well. He’s played a really big role in this time.

I don’t want to be too emotional. I just wish him the best in the future.”

The legendary duo of Salah and Firmino

Salah described Firmino as a crucial player who wholeheartedly dedicated himself to the club, demonstrating humility and hard work. Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 two years after Firmino touched down at Anfield.

Their partnership saw them contribute directly to 37 goals in 244 games played together. Salah concluded his heartfelt message by expressing his best wishes for Firmino’s future, emphasizing the Brazilian’s importance and positive influence during their time together.

Salah took to Twitter to publicly share his gratitude and affection for his departing teammates. He posted pictures with each player and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet and share moments with such remarkable individuals. Salah hopes that their paths will cross again in the future.

The sentiment of love and camaraderie within Jurgen Klopp’s dressing room was evident, leaving an emotional atmosphere as Liverpool said their goodbyes to these loyal servants of the club.

While the prospect of future encounters remains uncertain, Salah’s message underscores the strong bond and admiration present among the players and within the team.
