Fabrizio Romano drops a major update on Liverpool’s potential transfer target for the summer.
With the completion of two signings — Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and Armin Pecsi from Puskas Academia — Liverpool are not going to stop this summer. Their potential arrival list keeps getting bigger.
The Merseyside club have identified Florian Wirtz as their top priority for the summer. Negotiations over the transfer fee are still ongoing, as suggested by multiple reports. The deal could be finalised very soon, as Wirtz reportedly wants to join only Liverpool.

What Fabrizio Romano revealed
The journalist shared: “He’s appreciated for sure, but no talks or negotiations so far. Liverpool’s priority is the Wirtz deal now, then we will see.”
This indicates that Liverpool is prioritising the Florian Wirtz deal before pursuing other targets.
Liverpool’s interest in Ekitike fully depends on the final price of the German midfielder. As reports suggest, Wirtz could cost around €130 million — a record amount. The Frankfurt forward’s price may also reach around €100 million, so the Ekitike deal is currently dependent on how the Wirtz negotiations unfold.
