Roberto Firmino’s rumored transfer to Italy has been denied by Fabrizio Romano. And the transfer guru has hinted at the outcome Liverpool is hoping for.

Firmino, 31, is now experiencing a fantastic comeback at Anfield. The Brazilian last scored double digits in league goals during the 2018–19 season, when he scored 12. He has struck six goals in his nine appearances this season, nine matches in which he has begun just two games.

His total now stands at eight goals after two additional goals in the Champions League. In a typical Firmino manner, he has given three assists while also helping his teammates.

For a large portion of a campaign in which many others around him have struggled, Firmino has been a shining example. However, there is mounting talk that his performances this season might be the start of a farewell concert.

Since Firmino’s current deal ends in the summer of 2023. And he will be free to speak with foreign clubs in January to discuss a pre-contract arrangement.

Juventus and AC Milan are two such clubs that have been tied to signing the Liverpool supporter favorite.

According to Calciomercato, the Italian heavyweights like what they see and consider their options. Aging superstars have historically found success in Serie A, and Firmino may continue that pattern.

Furthermore, Liverpool, who is 31 years old, might feel it is time to move on.

Six months after signing long-term replacement Luis Diaz, they sold Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich in the previous summer.

Although transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has hinted that that may not be the immediate intention. And one school of thought has stated that Darwin Nunez is Firmino’s heir apparent.

The dependable journalist revealed via Caught Offside that no negotiations have taken place between Firmino and Milan or Juventus.

Additionally, Romano stressed that Firmino is “still viewed as an important player” by Liverpool. Dropping a hint that Firmino might be getting a contract extension.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Roberto Firmino and AC Milan or Juventus are not currently in negotiations.

A decision will be taken in 2023 about Firmino, who is still seen as a key player at Liverpool.

Back in July, there were rumors of Juventus making a £19.5 million offer for Firmino. Romano, however, referred to the allegations as false.

Liverpool’s aging squad

Liverpool needs to be cautious with their team’s aging demographic.

In Klopp’s strongest eleven, five players are over 30. Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Mohamed Salah, James Milner, and Firmin are older than 30.

Milner, however, is the best illustration of how a veteran player can be effectively utilized late in his career.

Klopp holds Milner in high regard and can always count on him to fill in when needed.

When filling in as right-back against Man City last Saturday, he well exceeded all expectations. He reacted quickly to stop Tomas Soucek on Wednesday night, preventing Liverpool from having to settle for a draw with West Ham.

Liverpool recently added Diaz, Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Fabio Carvalho to their attacking ranks.

There is no reason why Firmino shouldn’t be given anything like a two-year deal if they think his current revival isn’t just a coincidence. Salah extended his contract by two years by signing a new one earlier in 2022.

Nunez, the newcomer, is currently a clear diamond in the rough. Few strikers are better to train with to assist Firmino in improving his game.
