Fabrizio confirms La Liga star wants to join Liverpool: First signing on its way?

Liverpool have just received a major boost in their transfer plans! Giorgi Mamardashvili, Valencia’s standout goalkeeper, has reportedly agreed to a £4 million per year contract with the Reds.

The Georgian shot-stopper is eager to make the move to Anfield, giving Liverpool the green light to pursue the deal. Speaking to GMS, Romano revealed that Liverpool are yet to advance on a deal for Mamardashvili this summer:

“The player already gave his green light to this solution. Now it’s on Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes to decide whether he wants to proceed with this deal, sign Mamardashvili as an opportunity on the market, and consider him the future goalkeeper after Allison, after some time on loan.

“Otherwise, they could decide they want to leave this opportunity and continue with the goalkeepers they have for the present and future.”

Mamardashvili: The heir to Alisson at Liverpool

Mamardashvili has impressed with his performances, notably his stellar display for Georgia at Euro 2024. Moreover, the 23-year-old’s arrival would position him as a long-term successor to Alisson Becker. Though he may spend time on loan before stepping into starting lineup.

However, Liverpool have not pulled the trigger yet. The decision now lies with Sporting Director Richard Hughes, who must weigh the benefits of securing Mamardashvili or sticking with their current goalkeeping options.

With Valencia demanding a hefty £34 million fee, this could be one of the summer’s most interesting transfer story.

As Mamardashvili eyes a future as a successor to Alisson’s throne, his arrival could spell the end for Caoimhin Kelleher at Anfield. The Irishman is keen on regular game time in first-team football. And arrival of another goalkeeper at Anfield might just push him out the door.

In other news, Liverpool have reportedly cooled their interest in Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes after being snubbed by Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi. It seems the Reds might be wrapping up their transfer window without a midfield addition.
