Liverpool youngster Adam Lewis is set to leave the club this summer, upon the end of his contract as the Reds doesn’t seem to extend the youngster’s contract.
As per Liverpool Echo, the Merseysiders would be willing to let go off of the defender when his contract expires this summer. The 23-year-old recently returned from his loan spell at Newport County, after suffering a season-ending injury.
The Reds are set to allow the youngster to leave on a free transfer as his contract is set to expire this summer. Moreover, he wouldn’t be handed a new contract as per many reports.
Adam Lewis on his way out of Anfield
Lewis joined the club’s academy at the age of 6 and has been at the club since then. The Englishman played an important role while Gerrard was in charge of the U18 side.
The former Liverpool captain claimed to have been impressed by the youngster and praised him highly. He spoke to the official website about Lewis, saying:
“If Adam can keep this consistency up, I don’t think he’ll be around this team for much longer. I want to keep him for as long as I can, but for me, he’s such a threat on the left side.
Going forward, I haven’t seen anyone as good as him at that age, in terms of quality and what he can deliver in the final third.”
However, he hasn’t had the same impact with Klopp as he hasn’t gone on to become a big thing at Anfield. The defender has been on four loan spells- Amiens, Plymouth Argyle, Livingston, and Newport County.
Moreover, his recent loan spell at Newport County seems to have impressed quite a few. He has had 28 appearances and has 1 goal and 6 assists to his name. However, he has had a season-ending injury and has returned from his loan spell.
Hence, it is yet to be seen where the 23-year-old would play the next season.
